The Camargue is a region located in the south of France, a natural park with a spectacular river route. It is a well-known and famous region for its nature and for its climate, which is very sunny.
The Camargue is the second most visited river area in France, after the Canal du Midi region.
If you haven't tried a river cruise yet, I recommend either of them. Although today I am going to focus on La Camargue.
I had been organizing a cruise for some time with other people from the world of tourism and travel and the day finally came: A press trip with journalists and bloggers nationwide.
Something amazing for me!
We went on a mini cruise to the Camargue.
We were in Aigues Mortes, Saint Gilles and Carnon among other places and we did very cool activities.
Keep reading 😉 I'll tell you how our trip was.
Arrival at Marseille airport
Who was he going with?
This adventure was joined by: Jose Pablo, María José and JJ de @atomarpormundo, Javier from @Javicubo, Nadia from @travelthelife and Vero of @verosinmapa
For them it was the first river cruise and for me it was a pleasure to take them and to be their hostess.
From here I thank you again for joining me, guys!
They told me they had never been in a mobile home. Hehe 😉 It really is a home because you take everything with you. The hotel, the bed, the transport and your belongings.
The best, go without a captain and with absolute freedom.
Barbecues and meals on board, stops in the villages, walks and everything on our own...
Marseilles
We landed on the Marseille airport and from there we went to the port of Saint Gilles. You can also fly to Nimes or Montpellier. You decide based on the route you have chosen.
The boat was for 8-10 people and had 4 cabins with bathroom each, kitchen and living room and deck to eat, sunbathe and sail.
Port of departure: SAINT GILLES, Nîmes
On the first day, our plan was to go from Saint Gilles to the small Gallician town, where we spent the night.
There in Saint Gilles we take the opportunity to go shopping.
We bought provisions in local shops and supermarkets to get on paper and feel France in all its essence.
Our plan was to do the food on the boat and dinner out there to get to know restaurants and already put, try and taste other delicacies (I attest that they are delicacies).
Always accompanying meals and dinners with a wine from the area.
Hmm… I remember the green asparagus, that we roast them on the barbecue, on deck.
Well, well… It is clear that the Gastronomy is a very important part of French culture.
Stop at GALLICIAN
We spent the night there. We dined on board.
Remember that all our boats have at your disposal a fully equipped kitchen and lounge for when you don't want to eat on deck.
Ains!
When I thought of going back to the Camargue I thought of seeing the horses.
So many beautiful horses, all free on the canal bank, wild horses… running and in total freedom
How wonderful to see that!
Y flamingos.
We drink coffee in the sun on the deck of the boat, watching flamingos. Can you imagine this?
Just like I am telling you.
Stopover in Aigues-Mortes
The second day we docked at Aigues Mortes and spent the night.
Here we spend the day walking and getting to know the city.
Aigues Mortes is a medieval city and is surrounded by a wall.
We got to know the city inside and outside this wall.
We took the bikes and took them to get to know this place better. So we were able to get closer to the salt flats.
There are many shops and artisan stalls, food and souvenir shops...
The local food is amazing: the meats…
We ate at a fantastic restaurant.
Seeing the flamingos in the salt flats is similar to the feeling of seeing the horses in freedom.
We had dinner by candlelight, with the Constance Tower very close and the moon in the background.
Stop in CARNON
Carnon is 25 minutes from Montpellier. It is a very tourist town and it has a large harbor full of yachts and boats.
Here we wanted to try an experience: We rented an Overboat.
an overboat It is an invention made in Hérault that allows you to “sail” above the water.
It is a unique feeling. It is ecological and electric.
It is from a French company called FOIL SENSATION and has the exclusivity in the world.
It seems difficult but it is easy to handle.
To sleep we returned to the portand Aigues Mortes and we had dinner on board, a barbecue of local vegetables… wonderful!
I stay with:
- The super dinners on board the ship and the chat times
- Horses and flamingos in freedom.
- No pattern. at your leisure Stops wherever you want.
- Boats of different categories from 2 to 12 people.
- complete independence
Tell me if you have already been there, what have you stayed with?
And if you haven't been to the Camargue, do you dare to embark on a ship without permission?
