I always tell you about the many advantages of the river boat as an alternative to travel, since it serves both as accommodation and as a means of transport, and today I want to tell you about the advantages of taking your own bike on board or a rented one if you don't want to travel from here to there with your own.
I also tell you in this post about the destinations that we most recommend in Danfluvial for bike rides. Although I have to tell you that, in most river destinations, you will find a path next to the canal to walk and explore its natural environment.
3 reasons to bring a bike if you rent a river boat
- You explore and discover
Beautiful trails line Europe's rivers and canals, offering stunning natural landscapes to immerse yourself in. - You connect
You connect with nature and enjoy relaxing moments and unconventional walks. Fauna and flora in all their splendor and an unmatched feeling of relaxation. - you have freedom
To go wherever you want, move around the towns, get closer to natural areas a little further away and do errands such as shopping for fresh products or bread every day.
It can be your bike or a rental one.
On all river boats you can bring bicycles and they will go on board with you.
You can bring your own or you can rent them.
You have the option to rent them in all ports. If you want to rent them, I recommend doing so in advance so you don't run out of them.
As for the number of bikes, if the boat is for 4 people you can take up to 4, and if the boat is, for example, for 8 people, you could take up to 8 bikes on board.
However, we do not recommend taking the maximum allowed, but rather a little less... So as not to saturate the available space on the boat that you will miss during your moments of leisure and enjoyment on board.
What do you need to know to bring your bicycle on board a river boat?
-
- Storage space: Depending on the model of boat and its size, they will go either at the front or the back (or even on the sides). Some boats have a specific anchorage for them, such as the Pénichette type, but others do not. Depending on the model of boat you book, you will be informed of where to place them and how to secure them.
-
- Helmets: You must bring a bicycle helmet with you on your trip. There is currently no law stating that it is compulsory to wear one in the EU. Each country has its own rules, although most require children under 16 to always wear one.
-
- Padlocks: Remember to bring your padlock for those days when you decide to leave it on the boat and go out on foot.
If you rent it from us, we will provide you with a padlock.
If you bring your own, remember to bring the padlock as well.
