What is the briefing before starting your river cruise?

Now that you know everything you must bring on board for your river cruise, we tell you what does the briefing consist of that you receive when you arrive at the base or starting point. 

 

In all our fluvial destinations through canals and rivers in Europe you can pilot a boat without having a specific navigation license, but this briefing is always necessary*.  

(* In certain areas of Germany this license is required, so the base staff is obliged to undergo additional training before your departure).

Your arrival at the port

Yes you arrive by train or plane, you must organize the transfer yourself from the airport or train station to the port of departure of the cruise.

 

At the port we welcome sailors from all over the world and in most cases they speak French, Spanish, English, Italian and Dutch. However, I cannot guarantee 100% since it depends on the staff that is there that day.  

 

If you haven't planned your cruise or need tour information, we will be happy to help you.

 

In addition, at each port, one of our technicians will teach you everything you need to know about ship equipment and navigation.

 

Check-In before the river cruise

 

To speed up the check-in processes and be able to comply with current security and personal distancing regulations, there are a series of procedures and documents that we will send you before your arrival at the base:

 

  • Logbook with basic explanations

  • They will contact you from the port or we will ask you to contact them to inform them of the arrival time

 

This allows us to prepare the boat to your liking, according to what you have booked. And besides, it guarantees you a secure check-in, without problems and on time.

 

Afterwards, we will need to spend some more time with you to complete the check-in and We will notify you when you can do the instruction prior to the departure of the ship.

 

You can't leave the dock immediately. In fact, most customers don't usually leave until early in the afternoon or, in some cases, until the next morning. 

 

Don't worry, we will prepare you to leave as soon as possible.

 

Once we have all the administrative paperwork completed, you can take possession of your boat.

 

One of our technicians will come on board and show you how it works.

 

if it's you first cruise, our specialist technician will accompany you a while in the water and will direct you in the basic maneuvers.

Each ship has a on-board user manual with the detailed information on the operation of the main equipment.

We have this manual in French, English and German. (Sometimes in Spanish)

Our instructor will give you this manual before leaving, along with all the information you need about the operation of the equipment.

 

Instructions to the captain before departure

 

In the documentation prior to the trip, we ask you to assign a captain and second in charge

 

Once we have shown you the boat, one of our port technicians familiarizes both you, as captain, and the second in charge, with the domestic systems of the boat and gives you a practical demonstration of the controls of the boat and how to operate it.

 

He will make sure you feel comfortable and safe controlling the boat, as well as navigating the waterway, before you leave.

In addition to this briefing, set-up and navigation by the port technician, you will be given more written information for you to consult:
