River tourism and cruises
River cruise through Venice.
The city of Venice is magnificent. It’s considered by many to be the most beautiful city on the water, we invite you to visit it on board a houseboat.
Venice is one of the most special cities in the world. To know it with a houseboat without permission is to be able to visit its authenticity as it is lived by the citizens of the Laguna. Venice, a city founded in 421, extends over a series of 119 islands that emerge from a wide lagoon located between the mainland and the open sea. Until its foundation, it was inhabited by a few Illyrian and Veneto inhabitants who lived on the water of the lagoon in stilt houses, subsisting on fishing and salt extraction.
Through the rivers and channels around the lagoon, you can visit and get lost in a romantic Venice, get to know Saint Mark’s Square, the palaces, the markets, the colourful streets called “calli veneziani”, the most romantic bridges … Take advantage of your river cruise to see the Grand Canal, Saint Mark’s Square and the Campanaro with its almost 100 meters high, the Saint Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, Ca ‘Rezzonico which is one of the most important palaces in Venice and currently it’s the Museo del Settecento Veneziano, Ducal Palace.
With your boat without permission, you can reach the most famous islands of the Venice Lagoon: Murano, Burano and Sant’Erasmo.
In Murano you can see glass blowers, typical local crafts with very ancient origins.
In Burano, learn about the work of lace makers who make the most precious and prestigious lace in Italy .
In Torcello visit the old cathedral. With more than 1500 years of history, it offers the possibility of admiring magnificent and unique mosaics and from its bell tower there is an exclusive view of the Venice Canal, surely a unique point of view to admire the Lagoon.
It is worth the detour on the tour and stroll through the city of art and history of Padova, the city of Sant’Antonio. Padova is a city very famous for its architecture; there are many places of interest that you can visit: Prato della Valle, the Chiesa di Santa Giustina, the Basilica di Sant’Antonio, il Palazzo della Ragione, Piazza delle Erbe and the Cappella degli Scrovegni. Important university city, Padova is animated by a rich network of events that cover the whole year, from cinema to theatre, from music to art, from sport to folklore. The three thousand years of history told through a multitude of beauties, artistic treasures and unmissable religious destinations, make Padova one of the most interesting places in Veneto.
Heading towards Padova, on the way, you can admire its vineyards; taste the real Lambrusco (a sparkling red wine) and the delicious Pinot Grigio. During the cruise, plan meal stops and savour dishes like mixed fried fish, bigoli in their gravy, and stuffed cuttlefish.
But Italy, in addition to art, also offers beautiful landscapes and corners to relax and enjoy the sun, as in the cities of Jesolo, Chioggia or Caorle with magnificent sandy beaches that will make your river cruise a delight. The region is also very famous for its amusement parks like Acqualandia in Jesolo. A short distance away we can visit San Donà di Piave, a culturally very expressive and proactive city, where there is a beautiful sculpture and architecture park. There are numerous events organized throughout the year, including the Festival and the Spring Fair, the Palio of the City of Piave, Estiamo in San Donà, the Festa dea Poenta (Polenta festival). The most anticipated and closest to the hearts of citizens takes place every year in the first week of October and is the Fiera del Rosario, in honor of the Madonna del Rosario.
You can think about booking your river cruise at this time to discover the local folklore. Since the middle of the 19th century, this fair was considered the largest in eastern Veneto, but its origins seem to go back to the 16th century. Treviso is another beautiful city in the Veneto region you can visit. It stands between palaces decorated with frescoes, porticos, and quiet channels where the Sile river runs, crossing the small mills that are found in various parts of the city.
